Lynne and Michael Roche have made fine artist dolls for over 25 years. Each doll is handmade by Lynne and Michael. Heads are modelled by them both and painted by Lynne. The beautifully designed, articulated lime-wood bodies are designed and carved by Michael. They have help from a small number of very talented knitters and needlewomen. They have also found producers of wonderful natural textiles, which are hand and space dyed, often using natural dyes. Their designs which have never been mass produced, are made in small editions, some with beautifully made accessories, which enhance their playability, drawing one into their enchanting world.

Brilliantly bringing together very diverse artistic skills, Roche Dolls have understated yet expressively modelled porcelain heads, carved and articulated wooden bodies. The lovely use of natural fabrics and a rich colour sense, make each doll a small work of art.

At this level, the art of doll creation echoes the wonderful bisque dolls of the past where artistry and design were paramount.
